Happy Weekend! I am sorry that I wasn’t able to get a new post up this week. We were traveling and visiting with family, which was wonderful. I just didn’t have a spare moment hardly to devote to the blog and unfortunately I get carsick if I work while riding in the car.
Our travel landed us first in Charlottesville, VA for my dad’s partial colectomy. The surgery was successful and there is no more cancer. We feel incredibly grateful! I wasn’t sure I would be able to make it because of all the snow in Boston. When flying didn’t pan out, Brance very sweetly offered to drive down with me.
From Charlottesville we traveled on to visit Brance’s brothers and their families in MO and to celebrate Brance’s Grandmother’s 90th Birthday! This was a trip we had planned for a while. Originally we were going to fly with standby tickets Brance’s brother had gotten for us, but since we were already in VA we decided to drive. It was so nice to get to see everyone! And the kids had a blast having multiple slumber parties with cousins and sledding with a four-wheeler (a perk to living in the country) and playing with lots of kids at a big church potluck. It was sad to say goodbye!
Then off to spend some time in Nashville visiting with extended family and friends. It was fun getting to see everyone. And Brance’s talented friend Dave took some family pics for us, which I am very excited about. I now have an updated family pic for the blog. Yay! Everywhere we have been, everyone has extended so much love toward us. We have been fed delicious meals and offered warm beds and the best conversations. We only spent one night in a hotel! We are so thankful for our amazing family and friends all over the country.
We thought we were leaving winter behind, traveling further south, but the funny thing is that the snow and ice followed us from Boston wherever we went! Some places getting their first snow of the season. We just escaped an ice storm in Nashville by hours, only to arrive at my parents’ house in VA for the “treat” of a yet another winter storm that covered everything in a thick layer of ice. So crazy :).
Inspite of all the winter weather AND viruses we have been passing around, it has been very good getting to see family. Although, I am looking forward to a less hectic schedule that will afford me the time I need to devote to this blog. I have missed getting to write! I plan to be around more next week and I am working hard on something else I hope to reveal real soon. So exciting!
